The cherry is the fruit of many plants of the genus Prunus, and is a fleshy stone fruit. The cherry fruits of commerce are usually obtained from a limited number of species, including especially cultivars of the wild cherry, Prunus avium.

The name 'cherry', often as the cοmpοund term 'cherry tree', may also be applied to many other members of the genus Prunus, or to all members of the genus as a collective term.

The fruits of many of these are not cherries, and have other common names, including plum, apricot, peach, and others. The name 'cherry' is also frequently used in reference to cherry blossom.

Prunus avium (Stella Cherry)

中医古籍称它能“滋润皮肤”、“令人好颜色，美态”，常吃能够让皮肤更加光滑润泽。这主要是因为樱桃中含铁量极其丰富，每百克果肉中铁的含量是同等重量的草莓的6倍、枣的10倍、山楂的13倍、苹果的20倍，居各种水果之首，故又被称之为“美容果”。而且，樱桃具有很大的药用价值。它全身皆可入药，鲜果具有发汗、益气、祛风、透疹的功效，适用于四肢麻木和风湿性腰腿病的食疗。不过，樱桃中除了含铁多以外，还含有一定量的氰甙，若食用过多会引起铁中毒或氰化物中毒。一旦吃多了樱桃发生不适，可用甘蔗汁清热解毒。
