Cyber-crime  I choose cyber-crime as my topic not because I saw many cases on it but for the reason that I read a nespaper last year and I became interested on this topic. The editor of the article stated that the level of cyber-crime was rising recently, which was not surprised me because I know there have lots of profit on this kind of crime. When I was thinking about a contention, first I am concerned about why people cyber-crime, but then I realize it was a simple question that can be explain by one word--profit. People do cyber-crime because they want profit.  Finally I think about what harm does cyber-crime do and how to prevent it. These two objective is quite complicate and have more things to talk about. Thus my 2 objective are: What harm does cyber-crime do? How can we prevent cyber-crime? Objective 1: What harm does cyber-crime do? There are lots of negative influence of cyber-crime as there are various ways of it.  Of corse the biggest problem of cyber-crime is losing money. Some of the frauds have been working for even ten years and more, such as ' Nigerian 419' money laundering. One man cause the citizen and government lose 2 million through this event. (Tech Web 2005) At year 2004 in New York, more than 57 million Americans have received at least one phishing e-mail. The study showed that the financial losses amounted to 1.2 billion. (Dennis 2004) As you can see, huge mount of  the finance loss is because of cyber-crime every year.  Following this, cyber-crime can cause data loss which is also harm to our society and the results of this  is almost loss money. A woman's account number was stolen from a database at BJ's Wholesale Club where she shopped. She is one of the victims of tens of thousands of largest cyber-thefts in recent history. (Dennis 2004) Another day, even Citibank discovered that personal identification numbers of debit card had slipped into wrong hands. (InformationWeek 2006) Apart from money, the sensitive personal detail loss is also a negative results of cyber-crime. By one estimate, 53 million people including consumers, employees, students, and patients have had data about themselves exposed over past 13 months.(InformationWeek 2006) Image that, you data come to wrong hands, and that guy know where you live and work, it is really threaten your life safety.
