We have learnt the Good English for one and a half years. As a student of this English group, I’ve summarized some crucial skill and knowledge that we can get from this book.
Reading Skill Improvement
English reading is the most difficult part for students, especially for Chinese students. It mainly includes comprehension, frequent expression, and maybe the right perspective of answering a question. To improve our reading skills, accumulation is the best approach. The Good English book contains both useful expressions and a large number of new words which will soon improve the skill of reading in a better approach.
Your Spoken English!
Each of a book attaches with a sound track which accent is really native and standard. (I mean British English.) And each student gets the sound track from the teachers and is required to read out the whole story for at least 10 minutes per day. From my view, the spoken English skill, just like the reading skill, it requires for accumulating.
Perform It!
I think the most brilliant part of the Good English learning is performing the story out with other members in the group. Students may have a better comprehension of the characters’ mood and what they think by performing it out to others. In addition, students get to learn about team work. Every time before the ‘show’, each group needs to prepare for it. The most creative group get the highest score, so everybody should work on every performance to let the group stand out.
Writing
Writing is another thing that confuses the students. As for me, it is tormenting me right now as I’m writing this essay! Virtually, the lesson instructs students to summarize the whole story with one’s own words and sentences which can make their mind flexible when they try to express their thinking. Students discuss their answers and make the answer more complete.
