‘Posh’ begins filming! Adapted from Laura Wade’s play, stars Max Irons, Sam Claflin, and Douglas Booth
Cues fangirl screams! Did that title just melt you into oblivion, because when I found out about this “adaptation” starring my favorite British actors, (minus Henry Cavill) I knew many of you would die of happiness! Right before The Host hit theaters back in March, rumors were buzzing around this film and their leading man.
Robert Pattinson (Twilight) was said to be in consideration along with names such as
Max Irons (The Host),
Sam Claflin (Catching Fire, Snow White and The Huntsman), and
Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet) were all circling around Posh, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Fast forward three months later to the start of filming when we get our first glimpse into this film and their swoon worthy actors. Max Irons snatched up the lead role along with Sam Claflin and Freddie Fox (The Three Musketeers) playing supporting characters, while Douglas Booth is still rumored to be involved. However, Robert Pattinson is not attached to this film.
Posh was adapted from a play by Laura Wade. It centers around two first-year students at Oxford University who join the fictional Riot Club – an elite Oxbridge dining society – which meets regularly in a private dining room of a pub, and member’s reputations can be made or destroyed over the course of a single evening. Radio Times added, “In the play, the debauched group encounters excessive drinking, prostitution and leaves a trail of “glorious destruction” in their wake.” Sounds like these boys are going to get into trouble!
The play debuted at the Royal Court Theatre in London and launched The Game of Thrones’ star,
Kitt Harrington’s, career. Max Irons is taking on Harrington’s role in the film adaptation, with Lone Scherfig (An Education) directing.
We don’t know much about this film, only that it was shooting in London at Oxford’s Magpie Lane and Merton Lane yesterday. Just Jared snapped a few photos of Max Irons and Freddie Fox onset! Thank you to Sam Claflin Fans for the Sam Claflin photos onset looking quite dapper, take a look:
