There is one conviction: As long as one takes efforts, he or she will gain what he or she wants, and sometimes miracle arises. That’s what I heard the most times when Iwas at my school age, which my father always told me.
When I was in primary school, there was one time that I failed the final exam. A tearful boy ran into his bedroom and didn’t talk. His father came into the room and swept the boy’s tears. The father asked the boy a question, “do youknow why the rabbit won the race ? ” The boy knew that his father meant the race between the rabbit and the turtle. The boy answered, “because the rabbit fell asleep during the race.”The father continued asking , “Why did the rabbit sleep ? ” “I don’t know,” answered the boy.
“Because the rabbit didn’t take efforts to do what he was doing then ,” continued the father , “the rabbit was born to run fast. Running was his talent ,but he was conceited. He thought he could always be the top one on running even though he didn’t need practice. On the other hand, the turtle had a conviction : take efforts andthen opportunities come to you.”
The boy understood suddenly. Yes , he was smart and always got good marks on every subject. But no one was born to be smart, one needs to be so diligent that he or she could be the best of all. Later the boy knew from his mother that his father knew he had failed the exam before the teacher told the class. His father happened to meet the teacher on the road two days before.
That’s right, the boy was me, and I still remember the story and the conclusion: take efforts and the opportunities come to you or you will gain what you want. That is my motto all the time. Of course there are also two good virtues from the story, one is modesty and the other is that opportunities are paid by efforts.
I have just confided my secret why I could learn English a little bit well as well. Not only did it influence my childhood, but it influences my life now. No matter what situation I face or tough condition I am in, as long as I try my best , I can do the best, and with no regrets.
