Materials Science, Master´s Programme
The programme focuses on advanced biomaterials, biomechanics and the application of advanced materials in medicine. According to a study by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences, bio- and IT-technologies and materials science were ranked as the three most important areas within the Swedish industries. Moreover, materials science constitutes a considerable part of the base of knowledge for the bio-industry.
- Introductory Course in Physics and Mathematics 6 ECTS
- Surface Chemical Properties of Biointerfaces 12 ECTS
- Introduction to Materials Engineering 7 ECTS
- Biomechanics 5 ECTS
- Research Methods and Research Ethics 7 ECTS
- Nanomaterials 7 ECTS
- Characterization of Materials 8 ECTS
- Materials Modelling and Continuum Mechanicsm 8 ECTS
- Biointerfaces in Practice and Theory 6 ECTS
- Entrepreneurship, Patent and Intellectual property rights 8 ECTS
Elective courses (you can choose two):
- Optical and Electron Microscopy 8 ECTS
- Eco-selection of Materials 8 ECTS
- Manufacturing with Materials 8 ECTS
- Phase Transformations 8 ECTS
- Solid State Physics 8 ECTS
Master Thesis 30 ECTS
After graduation you will be able to play an important role in manufacturing industries addressing health as well as in high-tech research and development industries. Learning institutions such as universities will also require qualified
researchers in biomaterials science.

Degree of Master (two years)
Admission requirements
Bachelor of Science Degree consisting of a minimum of 180 higher education credits in Engineering or equivalent. Information on application and eligibility is available at www.mah.se/education/non-exchange.
