The explosions happened near the palace of Emill Muhamouds Anucy, one of Nigeria’s most influential Muslim leaders. The Emill has criticized Bokha Haram and has urged civilians to take up arms to protect themselves from the group. He was not present during the attack although he’s been suggested he was the target. As the violence continues in northern Nigeria, so does the public criticism of the government and militaries inability to stop the attack.
