A soft breeze blows through an outcropping of trees, the green branches a bright lively contrast, rustling over the dust of the harsh desert dunes. Beyond the treeline the sounds of life rang openly, birds chirping as they flew from branch to branch, leaves rustling as deer bound and played in the various clearings. Suddenly, all was silent, neither bird nor deer could be heard, even the wind seemed to have faded away. A heavy rustling, like that of a freshly felled tree being dragged through the underbrush slowly filled in the calm silence of the dark wood. Suddenly several heavy branches, winding twisted off the trunks of several ancient trees, began to bend and crack as some force as of yet unseen pushed through.
