汪冰博士的《帝国骑士》里，提起诺沃特尼的死因，有这么一段 “英国皇家空军有一名飞行员战后曾提及，诺沃特尼是被英军的一个“暴风”战斗机中队击坠的——英军飞行员戈莱（John Golley）曾回忆说：“……1944年11月初，有谣言说德国空军的Me-262王牌诺沃特尼已被击落了。就我所知，没有一个人对此感到兴奋，也没有任何人出面声称是自己击落了诺沃特尼。我所听到的全部就是，我们的一个‘暴风’战斗机中队干掉了他。”
当时，看到这一段，我心里咯噔一下：ME-262拦截重轰的高度几千米高，关舔地皮的暴风什么事？哪怕说诺沃特尼被击伤之后，在低空遇见暴风——在场的加兰德说“埃德尔上尉惊叫着说还有一些‘暴风’战斗机，不过我没看见。”，实际上1944年11月8日，在Hesepe/Achmer附近也没有暴风/台风的活动啊。

基本上，诺沃特尼是在被美军357大队追击时挂掉的，这点没有疑问。只不过，本座对英国飞行员这么有信心的说法，很是有兴趣，想知道他是在哪里听到的。。。
最近搞到了Pierre Clostermann的《The Big Show: The Greatest Pilot's Story of World War II 》，在里面发现有这么一段：

On 15th March last I was leading a section of four Tempests in a rat
scramble over Rheine/Hopsten at 8,000 feet. Suddenly we saw at ground
level a Messerschmitt 262 without any camouflage, its polished wings
glittering in the sun. It was already in the flak corridor and about to put
down. The barrage of tracers was already up to cover its approach. In
accordance with the new orders I decided not to attack in these conditions,
when, without warning, my number 4 dived vertically towards the small
bright dot which was nearing the long cement runway. Hurtling through
the air like a bullet Bob Clark miraculously went through the wall of flak
without being hit and fired a long burst at the silvery Me 262, which was in
the final phase of its approach. The Messerschmitt crashed in flames just
on the edge of the airfield.
A fortnight later we learnt by cross-checking captured documents and
prisoners’ reports that that Me 262 had been piloted by Nowotny.
Everyone had gone to bed. Bruce Cole, Clark, Brooker and I had stayed up
and we were glancing at an illustrated article on Nowotny in a review
called Der Adler which we had found at Goch. There was his picture, taken
on the day he received the Iron Cross with swords, diamonds and oak
leaves—the highest German military distinction. A face like that of a tired
child, with a trace of sadness and a determined mouth and chin.
‘All right now,’ suddenly said Brooker, ‘time to go to bed. What a pity
that type wasn’t wearing our uniform.’

他在书里说：1945年3月15日，击落一架Me-262，后来查证是诺沃特尼【开过】的
然后，搞不好，大概也许可能maybe，有阅读理解不好的英鬼飞行员看到这一段，就看成了暴风中队干掉诺沃特尼啦
