Hi,这里小枫。儿子Jay/Jonathan大家可以从我之前的帖子里找到,但是为了方便,单独放一篇背景故事,希望大家喜欢~~~
Hi, my name’s Zane.
You asked for the story, right?
How my best friend suddenly turned into…a psychopath.
Jay was so…normal, I suppose. We hung out after school sometimes, and I’ve met his little sister, Annie. She was so innocent, in this town where so many things happened.
Deformity Town isn’t just a name. Most of the people here are considered “not normal”, enough to get them sent here.
Me? I can’t feel hunger. It’s nothing much, just that I have to remind myself not to starve. To be honest, it’s not that bad.
But I suppose some people, like Jayden, get the worst of it, having physical differences.
His eyes can still see properly, so why did they put him here?
Because he’s “not normal”, of course. Nobody here is normal.
His younger sister came here with him, because she had no choice. Sure, she was albino, but they didn’t really mind that. After all, there are plenty of albino people in the world.
We didn’t go to the same school, but I’ve heard from my other friends that he was bullied for his eyes, though all of the bullies have “deformities”, anyway.
I tried to talk to him more, and for a while, he was less quiet, and sometimes smiled at my jokes.
We grew closer, and became best friends when I was fifteen and he was fourteen.
But last month, when we were just walking along the street, he scared me.
His voice turned harsher, and his demeanor changed altogether.
“Zane, have you ever thought about getting out of here?”
I turned to look at him. “Yeah right, Jay…you know that’s impossible.”
He actually smiled, but it wasn’t that nice smile Jay sometimes gave me. It was sadistic, and insane, and scary.
“Tech. We could just kill our way out of here. Nobody could technically stop us, except for those guards. Heh. Like I care about them.”
“Jay, we've been through this before. We’re deformed. That’s why we’re here. We’re different.”
His smiled turned even colder. “Isn’t that a good thing? It’s not like I care about how I look. We’ve been over this, and I think you were being a jerk.”
He had never insulted anybody before, not even the bullies, so that had made me mildly annoyed. “Jay, stop it. You’re being unreasonable.”
“That’s not my name, you know.”
I had stopped completely before sighing. “This isn’t funny, Jayden Starling.”
“I told you. That’s not my name.” He stopped too, to glare at me.
“Wait. Who are you, then?” Jay had scared me too much for a day, and I started to take him seriously, looking into his silver eyes.
“Well, Zane, haven’t you heard of split personality? That was why they sent us here in the first place, just that we hid it. Hasn’t Jay told you yet? He must be really close to you then.” I could hear the sarcasm dripping off his voice as he said those words.
I shook my head. Jay had never said anything about this. He had always been quiet, shy, and too kind for this place.
“In case you were wondering, I’m Jonathan. Much better than Jay, since he’s a coward.” He rolled his eyes, dismissing Jay.
That made me snap. “Don’t you dare insult my best friend!”
“Oh really? You’re best friends? I thought best friends told each other all their secrets.” Jonathan sneered.
I froze. I suddenly realized something.
Annie.
What if…
I broke off the subject. “Does Annie know?”
Jonathan made a face. “Of course not! I’m not as careless as to show myself to that little girl. Jay made me promise.” He said that like it was a bad thing. I was pretty sure what would have happened if Jay were just a little less protective of his sister.
I sighed in relief, and Jonathan rolled his eyes again.
“It’s not like I want to. I don’t like crybabies. That girl's just another brat.”
Then Jonathan choked, his eyes shutting and his hands curling into fists.
When he opened his eyes again, he was glaring at himself.
“Don’t you ever say that about Annie. Ever. Again.” Jay’s voice came back, softer, but this time filled with anger. He was talking to himself.
“Jay?” I questioned, worried.
He bit his lip, took one terrified look at me, and ran.
And then that was the last time I ever saw him.
You say on the news that he could sing, and that listening to him sing would make you insane.
But I’m telling you.
That wasn’t Jayden Starling.
That was Jonathan.
So leave him be.
背景故事End.
