My theory is that hohners diatonic reeds are slightly lower and not exactly 100% pitch perfect which is why they are perfect for blues and country. I find susuki more melodic and decent for jazz, classical or more oriental music with alternative scales.
I'll be honest
My hearts in busking and random flash jamming on the streets.
So although I do have some professional harps for performing live with.
I prefer harps which are cheekily disposable. Sometimes I like to break them apart and see if I can modify them in some way. So a broken harp is just as creatively rewarding as a straight out of the box one.
So here's my list for diatonics ( for street busking )

2 susuki Manji C20. They're reasonably cheap and last longer than the special 20s( but the special 20s are GREAT starter harps) but wood DOES swell at times and playing fast runs down the scales does cause it to clog if you're NOT careful. The resin based comb makes this harp really durable.
For guitarists .... these are like Elixer strings... they're not the best soundinh strings for gigs or live performances on stage. But for busking on the street, they bad boys survive for quite a long time and so that's why I like susuki I suppose.

4 Lee Oskar ( harmonic minor harps)

For street performing I actually have a favourite and that's the BIG SIX by seydel.
I personally am not a fan of Seydel
I have some which I use .... they sound ok but they're too chunky for my hands
The low tone bold body bass harp and the 1847 Low LOW harmonicas I bought out of curiosity because they're weird sounding and kinda fun to use with kids.
So why the BIG SIX
Because it's the first harp to be able to fit on a key chain. I added rings onto my little harps because I like to carry a few around with me at all times...

But the main reason is that for Asian hands I can make a better cupping with these than most harmonicas. They only have 6 holes and they lack the holes to make a complete solo but their small size still packs a helluva TONE. But they're ok for quick songs when busking and also I can switch them anytime when I'm in need a of a full solo. So I always switch harmonicas during a particular song in order to create different textures. In a way, I use them to test the musical environment before I bring out the REAL harps or my acoustic.
