Touchdown day for Jaime Alguersuari in Canada
Jaime Alguersuari has closed his first participation in the free practice session in the 18th position, with a best lap of 1'19 .274, indicated in the second series. The Catalan has spent the day adapting himself to a circuit that he did not know and preparing for Sunday's race.
The struggle to bring the Bridgetones to the right temperature has been one of the major pitfalls of the practice sessions on Friday. With the asphalt near the 20ºC, most teams have spent both sessions adapting the behavior of the medium compound tires, leaving for the end of the second session the supersoft tires. At this point, all the drivers involved have seen their mechanical grip weakened as a result of the graining suffered by this type of tire.
The evolution of Jaime and his Toro Rosso is evident in his best times: 1'20 .823 in the morning and 1'19.274 in the afternoon. Again, another GP where it seems that the rivals to beat are the Saubers, Force India and, perhaps, the Williams team, which has been very competitive in this first day of testing at the Gilles Villeneuve.
The third practice session will take place tomorrow Saturday at 16:00 (Spanish time), and the grid will be decided after 19:00.
