The BGVP Exquisite eartips certainly have an ambitious name, aiming to compete with the highly-regarded Pentaconn COREIR Brass. However, in reality, the BGVP Exquisite falls far short of this aspiration. Instead of a refined and balanced sound, the Exquisite produces a noticeably unbalanced sonic signature, leaving a lot to be desired.
The most striking issue is the overly prominent upper-midrange and treble frequencies. This results in a harsh, bright, and even scratchy sound, lacking the smoothness and refinement found in the COREIR Brass. The treble’s aggressive presentation can be fatiguing during extended listening sessions, making them unsuitable for sensitive ears or those who prefer a warmer sound signature. The low-frequency response is equally disappointing. Unlike the weighty and textured bass of the COREIR Brass, BGVP Exquisite produces a lean and flat low-end. Bass notes lack depth, impact, and the overall fullness that contributes to a satisfying listening experience. The bass is not merely subdued; it’s significantly suppressed, leaving a significant hole in the frequency response.
A further concern, highlighted by a friend’s experience, is the rapid development of a green patina. While the COREIR Brass is also susceptible to this type of tarnishing, the speed at which it occurred on the Exquisite in merely three days of use is alarming. This suggests a potentially inferior material composition, raising questions about the long-term durability and aesthetic appeal of the eartips. The only positive aspect is the price point. The BGVP Exquisite eartips are indeed cheaper than the Pentaconn COREIR Brass. However, this cost saving comes at the expense of significantly inferior sound quality and potentially compromised durability.
While the BGVP Exquisite eartips might appeal to those on a tight budget, their sonic shortcomings and rapid tarnishing make them a difficult recommendation. The unbalanced frequency response, harsh treble, and lack of bass weight overshadow any cost advantages. If you are considering these eartips as a substitute for the COREIR Brass, I strongly advise reconsidering. The superior sound quality and better long-term durability of the COREIR Brass justify the higher price. The BGVP Exquisite eartips include a clear orange acrylic sliding storage case.
